Erick Nilsen

Position title: Graduate Student

Erick earned his BS in microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduating, he worked as a research specialist with Dr. Charlie Mo and studied bacteriophage-host evolutionary dynamics and anti-phage defense systems. Erick’s research interests revolve around genetics, molecular machinery, and host-pathogen interactions. As a PhD student in the Cellular & Molecular Pathology program, he is excited to interrogate virulence and host factors of enteric pathogenesis.

Outside the lab: Erick enjoys hanging out with his cats, going for walks and hikes, playing video games, and baking.

Guilty Pleasures: Stickers, trading cards, showing you cat pictures.
